On this page we have reviewed some of the best new children’s stories and activities on DVD and audio. Listening to and watching their favourite characters brought to life is a great way to enthuse children for reading. There are stories here to appeal to all children, so please take a look.
Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs - School’s Out
When Harry comes home after an exciting day at school, his prehistoric toys want to share in the fun. So it’s into the magic blue bucket for more adventures……. 6 of them in total - the rest are Hurray for Pizza, Superheroes Don t Dance, Is that Really a Lamp, I Want to Help and Somebody’s Moving. Friendly characters and catchy tunes will capture children’s attention. I think this is a great way to encourage children to use their imagination when playing with their own toys. Why not give them some toy dinosaurs and see what materialises?
Spot Goes on Holiday - Activity Pack
Go on holiday with everyone’s favourite dog. And after sharing the holiday fun, there are 11 more stories about Spot, including Spot Goes to the Circus and Spot Goes to the Farm (my favourite!). After watching each episode, children can enjoy a series of games based on that episode - use these as the opportunity for discussion with your child. Also included in this excellent value pack are stickers and a colouring sheet. After over 30 years, Spot is as appealing as ever and children will love their very own DVD so they can watch over and over again.

Another great adventure for Elmo and his friends Telly and Abby as they find out about dinosaurs Have you ever heard of an Elmosaurus? How about a Telly Rex? More than just a story, this DVD answers lots of questions about dinosaurs - what they looked like, how they moved and what they eat. The story features Dorothy, Mr Noodle, all-new songs and a dinosaur on Sesame Street! Another engaging DVD from Abbey - the combination of much-loved Sesame Street characters with dinosaurs is bound to be a success!
Grandpa In My Pocket: Grandpa’s Great Escape/In It To Win It
Grandpa in my Pocket is a very popular CBeebies series. Grandpa owns a magical Shrinking Cap - but the only person who knows about it is his grandson, Jason. His cap means he can shrink to a few centimetres tall and then have all sorts of adventures. This bumper collection brings children 12 episodes and over two hours of fun, including his attempt to evade Great-Aunt Loretta; and unlikely sports fanatic cousin Alvin. Lots of fun to enjoy as Grandpa pops up in all sorts of unlikely places - and we see a lovely family relationship across the generations.

The magical loving Care Bears are back, bringing their own unique blend of happiness to young viewers. In the second adventure Funshine Bear, Share Bear, Cheer Bear and the whole Care Power Team as they organise the annual Giving Festival in this charming story. They are delightful characters who are full of positive good qualities. Two hours of lovely family entertainment, full of colour, fun and activity.
The Strawberry Shortcake Movie: The Sky’s the Limit
Strawberry Shortcake is an optimistic and cheerful character who sees the best in everything, so she’s fun and upbuilding to watch.. Strawberry is working on a new smoothie recipe for her café when a big storm hits Berry Bitty City and puts the water supply in jeopardy. It’s up to the girls to find a way to get the water they need to save Berry Bitty City.The girls learn a meaningful lesson about teamwork and how it’s okay to make mistakes. A colourful and engaging DVD that will be loved by little girls.
