Abbey Home Media’s pre-school property, Wide Eye, continued it’s success story with great ratings again this February and March 2004. Wide Eye had the fourth highest average share of 20.68%, a top performing CBeebies show, beating off the likes of Balamory, Tweenies, and the Koala Brothers. Approximately 1.2 million 4 to 9 year olds watched Wide Eye over the broadcast period.
You can also join Little Hoot, Flea and all the other stars of Wide Eye in the second VHS and DVD release - The Jolly Natterjack. Containing 5 fun filled adventures set in the magical world of the Natterjack Forest, The Jolly Natterjack is packed with mischief and mayhem, including pirate ships, searching for treasure, meeting a Snapdragon Monster, learning to swim and enjoying the birthday fun of Conchita’s Party. Adventures include: The Jolly Natterjack, Komodo’s Crossing, Snapdragon Monster, 99’s Boot and Conchita’s Party. Plus the DVD contains interactive extras filled with specially devised games (name the character, spot the difference, counting games and more) for pre-school ages that will prove both educational and entertaining.
Furthermore, four Wide Eye books are being launched this April (release date 28th April) by Penguin Books. There are two great storybooks: Toad in a Teapot and Spotty Little Hoot, Sticker Book fun with Wide Eye and friends - sixteen pages packed with sticker activities based on early learning concepts and a great Colouring Book – with big simple pictures of your favourite Wide Eye characters to colour in.
Co-produced by the BBC and Abbey Home Media and made by the BAFTA award-winning King Rollo Films, the Wide Eye series is full of humour, strong storylines and music, and features voiceovers from such star names as Jane Horrocks (‘Absolutely Fabulous’, ‘Little Voice’) and Anton Rodgers (‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ and ‘The Merchant of Venice, 2004).
Wide Eye and friends from the Natterjack Forest are also featured in the Government supported Pre-school Learning Alliance (PLA) Healthy Eating campaign ‘Feeding Young Imaginations’, helping to illustrate the message that healthy eating can be fun! Working with the British Nutritional Foundation the campaign’s aim is to promote healthy eating amongst the under fives.
There are also many other great Wide Eye products available including puzzles from Falcon Games, soft toys from Yaffee and a cosy sleeping bag from snugglesacs.
