Fungus the Bogeyman Paints the Town Green!

30/11/04

If you picked up a paper or tuned into the BBC this weekend you can’t have missed the original green anti-hero, and the star of Abbey Home Media’s latest DVD/VHS release, Fungus the Bogeyman.

BBC1's new Sunday drama Fungus the Bogeyman, starring Martin Clunes, peaked with 5.3 million (23%) at 6.35pm.

The adaptation of Raymond Brigg's cult book about filth-loving creatures whose future is under threat by humans averaged 4.8 million (22%) from 5.55pm-6.45pm.
The programme beat all other channels in its time slot; with ITV1's repeat of The Unforgettable Sid James from 5.55pm-6.25pm averaging 4 million (18%), and The Simpson's on Channel 4 from 6pm attracting 1.8 million (8%). The Town was painted slime green this weekend with prime time BBC trailers and mass coverage in all the national press and TV guides including: TV Times (main front cover), Inside Soap (tv section main front cover), What's On TV (front cover insert), Radio Times - full page feature, TV Choice, TV & Satellite Week, Design Week, Total TV Guide (front cover insert), GMTV - 'One to Watch for the Weekend' with clips and an interview with Raymond Briggs and clips on Blue Peter.

Abbey Home Media will be launching the movie length version of the original 3-part television series on DVD and VHS, on 6th December.

Building on the success of the TV series with an extensive national press and marketing campaign - repulsive yet compulsive, Fungus the Bogeyman looks set to be the pick of the new releases this Christmas. The perfect gift for all the family – the slime filled antics of Fungus the Bogeyman will appeal to all ages.
