“The video's content is based on scientific research with babies…
it has been specially designed to take account of the learning needs of
babies up to the age of one." (Dr Jane Collins, The Times)
“Gemma is a very curious baby and Baby Bright really captivated her.
It seems as if the video makers research has paid off”
(Joanne, mother of 11-month-old Gemma, as interviewed in The Sun) )
OUR STORES are saturated with pre school audio and visual product; but “normal” television is not designed for infants - the images move too quickly and the sounds are too loud. But ‘Baby Bright’ has revolutionised the market. A totally unique learning programme produced in association with Professor Annette Karmiloff-Smith, one of the world’s leading authorities in baby and child development, it has been specifically designed for infants. Based on real scientific fact, it enables parents to both interact with their young children and to give them skills that are the basic foundations of future learning.)
Launched by Abbey Home Media as a video and audiocassette, 'Baby Bright' has been an enormous success, earning glowing press coverage and excellent sales. )
Now Abbey is delighted to announce the availability of several new products in this unique range. New for Spring 2004, ‘Baby Bright’ will be available for the very first time on DVD, CD and in four exciting book formats. Once again, a donation for each product sold will be made to Great Ormond Street Hospital’s children’s charity. So not only can ‘Baby Bright’ make a real difference to a child at this most crucial stage of their development, it can also raise much needed funds for a worthy cause.)
Following on from the first Baby Bright video (which will now also be released on DVD), Baby Bright 2, available on both video and DVD, once again encourages babies to anticipate what might come next, to notice repetitions and changes and to make connections. The programme is also designed to help your child actively learn about the behaviour of and the relationships between objects, parts and wholes, size, shapes and numbers. )
Whilst many DVDs and videos are seen as babysitters, Baby Bright actively encourages participation and interaction between parent and child. The sequences and routines have been designed by Professor Karmiloff-Smith to maximise a baby’s attention span and to develop their curiosity. “Many videos simply encourage passive viewing”, says the professor. “But ‘Baby Bright’ makes babies truly active participants. Not only is this video full of attractive colours, movements, sounds, objects and music, but the content has been devised to take account of the latest scientific research into what really stimulates babies and how they structure their own brain development.”)
Suitable for an age group of between three months and three years, the programme is complemented with music commissioned for young babies that will both stimulate and amuse and features animated characters that also appear in the Baby Bright books.
It is very important that the programme is used with an adult as a shared experience.)
Available now, the ‘Baby Bright’ 2 DVD will retail at £12.99 and the VHS at £9.99. The title carries an E certificate and has a running time of 40 minutes.)
Research has shown that music plays an extremely important part in the development of the unborn baby and during the first twelve months of its life. Babies are attracted by the use of noises, which they will recognise such as animal sounds and baby noises.)
‘Baby Bright 2’ audio CD and cassette is a further collection of original soothing and stimulating music written and arranged by songwriter/producer Mike Croft who has a wealth of experience of working with young children. There are dreamy lullabies and sounds evoking recognisable images of the sea, farmyard and playtime. With a running time of 32 minutes, the CD will retail at £5.99 and the cassette at £3.99.)
The ‘Baby Bright’ books stimulate the vital development of the senses with colours, formats, materials, texts and novelty items chosen specifically to maximise babies’ attention spans.
