Abbey Home Media Has
Secured the UK and Australiasian Video, DVD and Audio
Rights to Fungus The Bogeyman

ABBEY HOME MEDIA is pleased to announce that it
has secured the UK and Australasian Video, DVD and Audio
Rights to what will be one of the most talked about TV
series this winter: the BBC PRIME TIME production of INDYKIDS
FUNGUS THE BOGEYMAN.
DELICIOUSLY DISGUSTING!
Fungus the Bogeyman is written by one of the UK's
foremost writers Raymond Briggs, who also created THE
SNOWMAN. It was first published by Hamish Hamilton in
1977.
Fungus is one of the greatest anti-heroes ever created.
He lives with his wife Mildew and son Mould, in Bogeydom,
as a hard-working bogeyman.
The book has been hugely popular for 25 years and has
attracted a cult following of children, teenagers (complete
with spots!) and adults.
BRILLIANTLY AND MEMORABLY WITTY!
Fungus is the alternative ugly green hero; the YUK factor
that appeals to the child in everyone. It is anarchic,
humorous, off the wall, anti-establishment and imaginative.
FUN AND HEART WARMING!
Fungus has been commissioned as a TV series by the BBC
and will be shown in prime time as 3 one-hour episodes
in late November and early December - just the thing for
a cold winter evening. Fungus will be extensively promoted
by the BBC in the run up to transmission.
THE UNEXPECTED!
Fungus, produced by the award-winning children's production
group IndyKids, is a high-quality series. It stars MARTIN
CLUNES (William and Mary, Men Behaving Badly) and FAY
RIPLEY (Cold Feet) as well as FUNGUS, MILDEW and MOULD.
It is a combination of live action and animation. Remember
GOLLUM from Lord of the Rings and DOBBY from Harry Potter?
FUNGUS and the BOGEYMEN will be animated in this self-same
CGI style. The humans, however, will be human!
BOGEYS EVERYWHERE!
The movie-length video is due for release on December
14th 2003, making it a MUST HAVE Christmas present. This
will be backed up by a major marketing campaign starting
in July across all major TV consumer media.
SLIMEY JOKES!
A new paperback edition will be available later this year,
plus a new Fungus joke book, 'THE BIG GREEN BOGEY BOOK'.
The sequel, 'SNOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED', is planned for
Autumn 2003.
